His playing position mainly as a right back defender. He commonly known as Dani Alves. He is one of the strongest, most intense right-sided players in the world, and covers an extraordinary amount of ground. He came to FC Barcelona in the summer of 2008, at the of age 25 years, after six seasons with Sevilla.

He started out playing at youth level for the biggest club in the region, Esporte Clube Bahia. He progressed through the ranks, and was just 18 when he played his first game in the Brazilian Serie A, under management at the time of former Barca man Evaristo de Macedo. Before joining Barcelona, Alves spent a successful six-year spell with Sevilla FC, winning two UEFA Cups and the Copa del Rey with the Andalusian side. He joined Barcelona for €32.5 million, and becoming the third-most expensive defender of all time.

He won the Treble in his first season with the club and in the next season, he won the Spanish Super Cup, European Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup. The native of Juazeiro in Bahia state first burst onto the global scene at the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2003, where he played a vital part in A Seleção’s title triumph and was selected as the tournament’s third-best player.

Current FC Barca career of  Daniel

Daniel Alves made his professional debut for Esporte Clube Bahia in a match against Paraná Clube, for the (2001) Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. Bahia won 3–0, with Alves providing two assists and winning a penalty for the other goal. Coach Evaristo de Macedo gave him a starting place in the team from then on. His consistently good performances landed him a transfer, at first on a loan, to Spanish side Sevilla FC, halfway through 2002. Bahia beat Paraná 3-0 that day, and Alves impressed from the outset. He was brought down for a penalty and also supplied an assist, leading the home fans to start chanting (Ah, ah, ah, Daniel titular). He first professional title was the Bahia Championship in 2001 followed by the Northeast Cup in 2001 and 2002. This led to a call-up for the Brazilian Under 20 team in January 2003. Sevilla had their eye on him, and brought him to Europe on loan.

As time went by, Alves consolidated his role as both a defender and part of the attack in the Sevilla team that in 2005/06 won the UEFA Cup. The Brazilian was named best player in that competition, and a few months later, won the Super Cup as his side beat FC Barcelona in Monaco. In 2006/07 season, the Brazilian formed an essential part of the Sevilla team that went on to also retain the UEFA Cup, win the European Supercup and also collect the Copa del Rey. In June 2006, Sevilla agreed to sell Alves to Liverpool, but Liverpool were unable to match Sevilla's asking price of around £8 million. In December 2006, he signed a new contract with Sevilla, tying him to the club until 2012. He had a successful 2006–07 season, making 47 appearances and scoring 5 goals.

On 2 July 2008, Alves joined FC Barcelona. He left Sevilla in tears and said that he would love to play for Sevilla again. He said that he came to Sevilla as a boy and is now leaving as a man, but later broke down in tears at the press conference. The official price of the transfer stood at £23 million up front, with about £7 million more depending on a number of performance-related factors over the next few seasons of Alves' Barcelona career, making him the world's most expensive defender and the third most expensive player bought by Barça. He signed a four-year contract with Barcelona, that includes a buy-out clause of €90 million.

A year before joining Barça, Alves won the Spanish Super Cup by beating Madrid and also gained his first Champions League experience. Sevilla went out in the second round to Turkish club Fenerbahçe. In that 2007/08 season, Alves played 33 league games and was the second most used player in the squad after Navas. In his second season at Barça, the club retained the La Liga title and won the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup, and in the 2010–11 season, He was instrumental in Barcelona's winning of their 3rd consecutive La Liga title.

In 2012–13, He won the La Liga title for the fourth time in his five seasons at Barça, on 2013–14, Alves wore shirt number 22, formerly worn by his friend Éric Abidal, to whom he offered to donate part of his liver during Abidal's treatment for liver cancer.

In his third year at Barça, he won three new titles, the Spanish Supercup, La Liga and the Champions League. And unlike in Rome, this time he did appear at the Wembley final in a year that he also signed an extension to his contract until 2015. In his fourth year at FCB, he won the European Supercup, the Spanish Supercup and the Copa del Rey, scoring three goals in the six competitions that Barça competed in, and making 52 appearances.

Current national team career of  Daniel

Alves made his Brazil debut as a substitute in an unofficial friendly match against Kuwait club Al-Kuwait Selection on 7 October 2006. Three days later, he earned his first international cap in a friendly against Ecuador. He was included in Brazil's team for the 2007 Copa América. He appeared in four matches including the final against Argentina, where he gave an assist and scored a goal in a 3–0 victory. Despite being the most expensive right-back in history, he has been unable to hold down a regular starting spot in the national team with Maicon being the first choice ahead of him. Alves came on as a substitute in the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup semi-final against South Africa and scored the winner, a free-kick and a goal in the 88th minute in a 1–0 win. He scored another long range free-kick against Iran on 7 October 2010. He has also been a regular feature in the Brazilian national team since 2006/07. In the summer of 2007, the right back won the Copa America and in 2009 collected a Confederations Cup winners medal.

His first World Cup was that played in South Africa in 2012, in which Brazil were knocked out at the quarter final stage by Holland. He debut with the senior Seleção came back in 2006, though the player had the ill fortune to be in direct competition with Maicon, a near-automatic starter in the right back position throughout Dunga’s reign as coach. Alves’s first major highlight with the full Verde e Amarelo came in the final of the Copa America 2007 when, after replacing Elano at the interval, he created Brazil’s second and scored their third in a 3-0 victory over Argentina. Back to Alves. After a terrible showing at the World Cup, following a bad season at Barça, Dani's future was in jeopardy. He stays at Barça for one more campaign, but it looks like his chances on the national team with Dunga will not come anytime soon.
